Prohibition in America

Prohibition was an attempt in the United States desinged to try to reduce the drinking problem by eliminating and alcohol business, manfacturers, or distrubuters. The United States created the Eighteenth Amendment that took away licenses to do business in the breweries, or any other alcohol providers. The leaders of America were surprised and awakened by how many people drank and abused alcohol. The leaders of Prohibition thought that there may have been a new culture of drink that was spreading across the American population. The strength of Prohibition was getting stronger after the formation of the Anti-Saloon League in 1893. This group strengthened the Prohibition movement along with many others such as the Women's Christian Temperance Union. The laws were now being enforced and Prohibition was something that moved across the nation.
